Project Overview
Dale Alcock was extremely proud to be the successful builder for Rocky Bay’s first Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) project, which we secured in a competitive tender. Rocky Bay requested that KPA architects designed a duplex to cater for 6 residents to live in. One of the three-bedroom dwellings was specified as High Physical Support whilst the other was Fully Accessible to cater for clients with differing needs and independence.
This project was completed within a 5-month construction program with our scope over works including demolition and delivery of turnkey items including landscaping and integrated communications and automation of doors.
Overcoming Challenges
A complex value engineering process was conducted as components and specifications were reviewed both from a cost and SDA compliance perspective. Through collaboration with KPA architects, Rocky Bay and Dale Alcock Projects we were able to agree on several VE items which resulted in the project moving to site.
Highlights
A number of the highly specialised items and details specified by KPA to be compliant with SDA accreditations meant our CA team had to closely monitor all procurement and trades to ensure compliance was achieved. A project of this nature demonstrates the strength of the DAP hybrid model its construction draws on knowledge of both our commercial and residential team members.
