Meet our New Homes TeamMeet our Developments Team

Hi, I’m Dean Brunton,

I’m a firm believer that there are no problems, only solutions when it comes to home improvement. Whether it’s a dysfunctional floor plan, a question of aesthetics or a simple space issue, I like the challenge of taking a home and making it better. I’ve overseen many of the large home extension projects I’ve designed since I started as a junior draftsman with Dale’s in 1994, and my wife and I have built three times in the past 15 years, so you could say I’m pretty adept at marrying good design with the practicalities of construction and renovation. I think it’s also important to remember that architectural styles come and go, and each time they evolve into something new. As a designer you have to adapt to current trends while having a good understanding of the past. With 20 years design experience under my belt, I still get excited when a house throws up a challenge – it could be from the past, the present or the future – and it’s my job to find the solution.

Nada Brock - Design ConsultantHi, I’m Nada Brock,

I’ve lived through two renovations – a period property in London and a home in Victoria Park here in Perth – and thank both for giving me my love of building design. I’m particularly passionate about sustainable design and like the idea of creating spaces that perform well and are suited to the local climate. For me, it’s good design to consider orientation and material choices, and to recycle, reduce and reuse where possible. Since 2007 I have worked on a range of residential and commercial projects, including pre-fab modular buildings, luxury custom homes, apartments and many commercial properties. My favourite projects, however, have always been renovations. Taking an existing dwelling and making it more fit-for-purpose gives me great satisfaction. My clients trust me when I say that design isn’t about my ego. It’s about listening to what my clients want and making their dream come true. Seeing their happiness when a project comes to fruition is by far the most rewarding part of what I do.

Simone Carter - Design ConsultantHi, Simone Carter,

I’m a wanderer at heart and have spent lots of time living and working overseas, which means I’m always searching for new inspirations via my surroundings and the people I meet. I believe that everyone should get joy from their home, and that design and creativity should be accessible to everyone, whatever their budget. I’ve been honoured to have worked for some of Australia’s most recognised and awarded design studios, spanning residential, hospitality and commercial projects, and I’ve even had my work published in national design magazines. It’s been wonderful to return to my beloved hometown of Perth, bringing more than 20 years experience in architecture and interior design with me. I believe my knowledge of materials, along with meticulous detailing, brings a style of refinement and craftsmanship to my work. My passion lies with residential projects and I’ve completed several renovation projects myself. I love the new, the original and design that pushes the boundaries.

Steve Kemp - Design ConsultantHi, I’m Steve Kemp,

If you’d asked me when I was 16 what I wanted to do for work, I would have told you I wanted to be a residential designer. I got work experience when I was still at school and knew it was my dream career. I was good at technical drawing and at one stage wanted to be a carpenter, but my passion for residential design took over. My father was a keen artist, which also had a big influence on me. I’ve now been in the home improvement industry for 30 years. Of those, more than 20 years have been at Dale’s as I was there at the beginning, when the home improvement division started in 1996. Not only am I a qualified designer, but I also have a good understanding of separating ‘wants’ from ‘needs’, and the importance of detailed costing’s. Both can be so important when planning a home improvement project. My wife and I have two boys, two dogs and a cat, and have renovated three times, so I can honestly say I understand how to design for the future so you don’t outgrow your home. Drag me away from my drawing board and I love nothing better than spending time with my family, playing and coaching hockey, and following motorsport.

Design Consultant - Tina UrieHi, I’m Tina Urie,

I believe my role as a designer is to not only help with ideas and cost effective design solutions, but importantly I'm there to advise and assist throughout the renovation journey. My passion is people and design. Good design does not have to be expensive. Fundamentally, it's about understanding the people I am designing for. From there, I can incorporate solar passive principles, zoning, future planning and functional floor plan design to achieve a home that truly improves your lifestyle. I take inspiration from Art Deco and Modernist design. I have renovated a beautiful weather board 1900's home, whilst paying respect to its heritage, it now stands strongly with a modern flair.

I have an honours degree in Industrial Design, in addition to a Diploma of Building Design and have worked in various creative fields throughout my career. I help my clients throughout the entire renovation process from initial design concepts, construction all the way through to final interior design and styling.

Wayne March - Design ConsultantHi, I’m Wayne March,

I’ve lived through a renovation so I know just what my clients can expect. It was an older property – a Californian bungalow in Mount Hawthorn – and the project made such a difference to the way the house worked, not to mention the change to the way it looked. I’ve been a Dale’s design consultant for eight years after moving across from the new homes team. It just seemed to be a natural progression for someone who loves design and helping people. I love helping homeowners turn their ideas and vision into reality, making their home a great place to live in. As a family-oriented guy, I know what modern families demand of their homes these days. I also love all sports and keep physically active with mountain biking, running and swimming.
