Our most popular bathroom design features
You should never underestimate the importance of a well-designed bathroom in your family home, particularly in the ensuite. One of the most common mistakes is not maximising the potential of the ensuite and then living to regret it for years to come. Here we take a quick look at some of the most popular bathroom design trends for 2018.
1. The Makeup Bench
This is probably one of the best bathroom designs features ever – particularly for the modern couple who both take pride in their appearance. The ‘makeup bench’ (as it is affectionately known) is a dedicated area in the ensuite (usually with its own bench space, seat, mirror and lighting) which can be used as an area to apply makeup or do hair while the other person is using the vanity. It avoids any jostling for position in the rush to get out the door and provides plenty of extra storage space for makeup, jewellery, accessories, hair products and appliances, creams, lotions and more.
2. The Freestanding Bath
The large, deep, freestanding bath has been a popular bathroom feature for many years and doesn’t show any signs of disappearing anytime soon. The freestanding bath is a decadent inclusion and allows you to bring that luxury resort feeling into your own home. You can enjoy a relaxing bath at your leisure but they are also extremely practical for young families – your children will love it!
3. Rain Showers or Double Showers
Baths aren’t for everyone but most people enjoy a long, hot shower – particularly if they don’t have their partner or a family member telling them to hurry up! That is why double showers are growing in popularity (because there are no arguments when you are both in a hurry) and rain showers add that extra touch of luxury. Rain showers hang directly overhead and shower you more gently so you get a spa-like experience but they also cover a larger area requiring a bigger shower recess. If water pressure and usage are important considerations for you in your family home, make sure you speak to your design consultant to pick the most appropriate option before you finalise your bathroom design.
4. Large and Above Counter Vanity Basins
Above counter vanity basins are on trend and create a beautiful statement in your bathroom or ensuite. You can use an above counter basin for either a single or double vanity and they come in a range of shapes and designs. One of the latest bathroom design trends is to use large above counter basins and when we say large, we aren’t kidding. There is nothing worse than a small basin that isn’t large enough to wash your hands or face without splashing water all over the benchtop but there is absolutely no danger of this issue with our range of large basins. They are almost big enough to bathe a small child or pet! Most importantly, they are practical and decadent and will be the envy of all your family and friends.
