Liveable Homes

Universal Designs for more liveable homes

At Dale Alcock Homes we recognise one size doesn't fit all when it comes to how you use and live in your home. We are working hard to develop homes that are suitable for universal access. As part of our commitment to ensuring our home designs are adaptable to suit you, we offer a number of special modifications to ensure ease of access for people of all ages.

Our Liveable Home Modifications

Depending on your needs, we offer the following options that can be added to any home design in our range to help make your home as universally accessible as possible;

  • No threshold to timber entry doors so they’re flush with the floor to ensure smooth access
  • Recess sliding doors for ease of opening
  • Your choice of flooring, to be selected prior to the first design concept being drawn
  • Cut off drain to all door thresholds
  • Extra room to passages and doors, 1200mm wide
  • Solid brickwork to all bathroom walls to support any grab rails
  • Hobless showers with 20mm recess
  • Flat hard stands and wheelchair access ramps to shopper entry doors from your garage
  • Non-slip tiles

While we aim to make our homes as liveable as possible there are some things we cannot do. These include;

  • Accessable alterations to cabinet work
  • The supply of tapware outside our standard range
  • Changing door handle heights
  • Changing light switches or light switch heights
  • Allowance for flooring under cabinets
  • Provision of termimesh throughout the home
  • Brick paving flush with finished floor level

If you require some of these specific modifications to your universally designed home which are listed as things we cannot do, or you require other changes not outlined above, you may be more suited to a niche builder who specialises in this area.
