HIA Name and Shame

The HIA Name and Shame Campaign began in 2003 to reduce theft and vandalism on building sites. Partnering with the West Australian Police Services and Meridian Investigators, the campaign aims to identify offenders and with the assistance of the Police ensure offenders are prosecuted.

The Name and Shame campaign began when a group of major building industry bodies banded together to try and find a way to prevent theft and vandalism on building sites.

As the name suggests, on conviction all adult offenders are publicly named as a further deterrent to committing offences on building sites. Purely funded by the building industry, Name and Shame increases public awareness of the problems and costs associated with building site incidents and offers substantial rewards for any information leading to the arrest of offenders.

So far the campaign has handed out over $80,000 in rewards to members of the general public.
