Oriental Touches Highlight Indoor/Outdoor Living

Dale Alcock Homes has chosen delicate Oriental touches to highlight free-flowing indoor/outdoor spaces in The Lotus I, its new family-sized display home in Heron Park, Harrisdale.

The columnless corner between the alfresco and the large open-plan kitchen and main living area is one of the highlights of the home, which combines contemporary spaces with practical features for the modern family.

With the focus firmly on indoor/outdoor living, The Lotus has also been considerately zoned with the kids’ wing to the rear and a large master suite with ensuite and dressing room to the front.

The result is a generous family home that’s warm and welcoming, and extremely easy to live and entertain in, says John Care, Design Manager at Dale Alcock Homes.

“Slide back the stacker doors leading from the main living space out to the alfresco, and you’ve instantly created one huge indoor/outdoor living and entertaining area,” Mr Care said.

“By including the optional columnless corner we’ve demonstrated a popular feature that accentuates the feeling of openness, and makes it hard to tell where the inside ends and the outside begins.”

The kitchen and main living area stretches across the middle section of this inviting new display, which has been designed to sit comfortably on a 15m-wide block in new or established suburbs.

“With its main living area leading out to the side, The Lotus has been designed to maximise the block, with scope to also extend the outdoor living area into the back garden,” Mr Care said.

Just off the main living area is the large home theatre, which has been partly screened from the entry hallway.

In the kitchen, with its chic combination of dark timber-grain and crisp white, there’s a huge uninterrupted island bench with a wrap-around breakfast bar and a single piece of engineered stone for maximum design impact. The contemporary kitchen design also features a triple-door pantry to keep kitchen essentials neat and organised, plus plenty of overhead cupboards, wide cooking appliances and a stylish open shelf.

“We’ve included a dropped ceiling in the kitchen to help define the space, and accentuate the feeling of height and volume elsewhere in this central open-plan section of the home,” Mr Care said.

A door leads from the kitchen straight into the laundry, keeping key workspaces close together.

Mr Care said the large master suite had been designed as a sanctuary of calm and tranquillity.

“As well as the large bedroom with its view out to the verandah and room to put a comfy reading chair, there’s a fully-fitted dressing room and a deluxe ensuite with twin vanities and a large shower,” he said.

The fourth bedroom has been designed as a guest bedroom, with sliding doors opening up the room to an outdoor space that could easily become a courtyard-style extension of the alfresco.

Other highlights of The Lotus include high ceilings in all key areas, including the living area, master suite, alfresco and home theatre.

Outside, fresh white rendered walls have been teamed with a dark tiled roof, a feature garage door and a wide, contemporary verandah for timeless street appeal.

The Lotus is situated on Dunmore Crescent, Heron Park, Harrisdale. It is priced from $237,980. The display version is priced at $297,195 Opening times are 2pm-5pm Mondays and Wednesdays, 1pm-5pm Saturdays and 12pm-5pm Sundays.
