Community & Environment

The Alcock Brown-Neaves Group (ABN Group) recently donated over $435,000 to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire Appeal.

For every home sold in Western Australia and Victoria during February 2009, the ABN Group donated $1,000 to the appeal. This equated to $345,000. Adding to the new home sales, 1,200 ABN staff and families also generously donated their own money and raised a remarkable total of over $90,000. In total, the ABN Group pledged over $435,000 to help rebuild the lives of the victims of Victoria’s tragic bushfires.

Dale Alcock is passionate about community issues and charity work, contributing more than $5 million in the past decade to projects such as the WA Drug Treatment Program, the Fremantle Medical Research Foundation, The Salvation Army, Appealathon and to junior football.

For the fifth consecutive year, Dale Alcock Homes was the major partner of the Salvation Army Red Shield Appeal doorknocking campaign, which aims to help Western Australians dealing with substance abuse and domestic violence, and those experiencing extreme financial pressure. The doorknock appeal raised over $680,000 in Western Australia and the company has committed to partner with this initiative again next year.

Harry Hunter Rehabilitation Centre

The Salvation Army operates the Harry Hunter facility as an accommodation service, which runs a 13 week rehabilitation program for substance abuse. Unfortunately, one of the houses used for accommodation has deteriorated substantially, unable to be used reducing the capacity of the centre.

DAH has offered the support by substantially reducing costs to build three new units which will dramatically improve the numbers and turn around time through the facility.

Caring as a pastime.

Passionate people can’t help but see opportunities to do some good. The self-styled ‘Shine Committee’ at Dale Alcock Homes is a great example. The committee organise staff to make a difference. They develop ideas to make the company more environmentally friendly; they arrange for collections for charity; they encourage volunteering within the community.

It’s clear to Dale Alcock that people who care about their work are likely to care about many other things as well.
