"Mirroring Trends"
Sunday Times, Home Magazine, 13th September
Is it just the chunky column of mirrors in the dressing room that gives the Reflection in Baldivis it’s name. Or is that this Dale Alcock Homes display mirrors many a homebuyers’ wish list?
With a funky urban vibe, the Reflection offers a big living area spilling out on to an alfresco, four bedrooms and an activity room, a home office and a sunken home theatre. Team these with a smoothly integrated white kitchen and a big main bedroom reminiscent of boutique hotels and the Reflection is a contemporary family home. Part of the company’s design collection for six months before it was launched as a display home earlier this year, it has already proved a popular choice for buyers. Dale Alcock, managing director at Dale Alcock Homes, says the master suite has been a big drawcard. “We are now conscious of designing master suites that have a dedicated dressing room, not just a standard walk in wardrobe, Dale says. Increased storages space and room for dressing leaves the bedroom free of clutter. Adjusting shelving and built in drawers for everything from shirts and shoes to make up and brushes help keep belongings neat and tidy, according to Dale, this reflects the influence of display and new product design manager Tamara Whitsed. “Tamara has paid particular attention to the master suite and and the ever changing needs of our female clients as fashion and trends change” Dale says. The ensuite bathroom in the Reflection has a double sized shower, the back and side of which form the mirrored column in the dressing room. There are also twin vanities separated by a floating storage unit. past the home theatre, the entry hallway opens out into the main living space and the adjoining office and alfresco. Reached from both the living room and the kitchen the alfresco showcases the Dale Alcock design teams flair for indoor outdoor living. The display home features a lounge area under a freestanding cabana. This frees up the alfresco under the main roof for open air dining and cooking. A wall of glazing lets light flood into the kitchen and there are windows either side of the cook top. Full height cabinetry, including lots of big drawers and a double door pantry keeps the look modern and streamlined. The sink has been kept to one end of the island bench, whish is wide enough to accommodate a sizeable breakfast bar. Three double bedrooms have been arranged in a separate wing along with a second bathroom, laundry and activity room with a sliding door to the back garden. Dale says the Reflection is a versatile design and the master suite can easily be “flipped” with the garage and home office without changing the integrity, proportions or price. Locating the garage on the ‘dead’ side of the home is ideal for corner blocks, Dale says. “When located on the alfresco side, there are greater options for an open garden or kids play area, particularly if space is added to the garage for for a third garage or storage area.
