Family appeal in spacious home

West Australian 13 February 2010

Ask Cheryl Bennett what she likes most about her Dale Alcock home and she will say: “Our bedroom. I love it. It is open, not closed in.”

But then she will say how she loves the home theatre: “Away from the living area, tucked away and private.” But she also loves her walk-in pantry, which is big enough to have shelf space to accommodate toasters and kettles and the like without the need to have those utensils on the kitchen benches.

In other words, she and husband Colin love the home which was an entry in the HIA-NAB Perth Housing Awards for Custom Built Homes up to $350,000.

The three-bedroom home has a stylish modern look from the street with the unusual addition of a decked veranda at the front. At night, lights flush in the wood give the home an appealing look.

Most of the home has high ceilings giving a feeling of even greater space in an already spacious dwelling.

The home theatre and study are at the front of the house as is the main bedroom, with the twin walk-in robes and spa bath. The main living area has the lounge, dining and kitchen areas and has glass doors on two walls allowing access to the outdoor area.

A rear hallway leads to the laundry, a toilet, bathroom and extra washbasin in the hallway nook. One of the two bedrooms in this area has a retreat which leads to the garden.

The big alfresco area has a sink and spa and there is a three-car garage.

The Bennetts love it when their “largish” family visit and the home fills to the sound of fun and laugher. Dale Alcock heels the homes living area provides a roomy central hub for family life.

Which is just as the owners wanted.
