Design makes use of compact block

The West Australian April 10 2010

The Shenton Lakes, by Dale Alcock Homes, was designed to take full advantage of the compact blocks adjoining the waterways at the Champion Lakes estate.

It offers a simple but effective layout which belies the narrowness of the home and creates good separation for the living areas with stylish indoor and outdoor entertaining.

The striking elevation has a painted rendered façade with a feature section of limestone cladding and a feature front veranda, in keeping with the estate’s guidelines.

Entry is via a covered porch on the side of the home.

To the right of the entrance is a separate lounge room or theatre with French doors to the veranda, and internal access to the double garage and store room.

The kitchen, dining and living area I open, light and airy, with high ceilings and doors or windows on both sides for good cross-ventilation.

The kitchen and the living areas have glazed sliding doors to the central covered alfresco area, forming a convenient and integrated indoor-outdoor entertaining and dining space.

The same floor tiles inside and out ensures a seamless transition when doors are open.

The kitchen has an island bench which doubles as a breakfast bar and a long benchtop along one wall under windows.

Kitchen specifications include stone benchtops, 900mm stainless-steel Blanco appliances, self-closing drawers, a double sink with flickmixer, dishwasher and microwave recesses and a walk-in pantry.

The main suite, at the rear of the home, also opens to the alfresco area.

The main suite, at the reae of the home, also opens to the alfresco area.

The bedroom has a hotel-style walk-in robe/dressing room and an ensuite with twin semi-recessed vanities, semi-frameless pivot door shower and separate toilet.

The minor bedrooms have sliding mirror door robes, and are on either side of the family bathroom.

The Shenton Lakes has a total area of 254.81sqm, including portico, alfresco area and garage, with a width of 12.36m.
