I want to renovate my home. What do I need to do?By contacting the Dale Alcock Home Improvement office by email or phone, a Design Consultant will contact you to arrange a FREE, no obligation visit to your home.
What approvals do I need?
Leave that to us. We will organize approvals with the council for planning and building licenses. We will also organize the site survey and structural engineering details and any requirements with the Water Corporation.
How long does the Council process take?
As you can appreciate, every council has differing needs and procedures for building. Some Councils are also inundated with approvals due to the new housing boom. Although we work closely with councils, there maybe an occasional delay we are not in control of approvals but generally planning and building approvals can take approximately 12 weeks.
How long will it take to start building?
We promise to start within 30 days of council approval.
What do I need to do about Insurance?
Dale Alcock Home Improvement covers all construction and public liability insurance but we advise you to contact your Insurance Company and advise them of the renovation. They can advise you on your individual policy requirements relating to your home and contents insurance.
How long does the whole process take?
Every job is different in size and complexity and is governed by different council requirements. Generally the whole process of design, documentation, engineering, planning, building approvals and construction on site, take on average 9 to 11 months.
Will we have to move out?
This depends on the individual requirements of each job, however, on average 20% - 30% of clients move out. Your Design Consultant can advise you in more detail.
Do we organize our own plans?
Leave it to us. Dale Alcock Home Improvement has qualified Designers who will draw up your design plans in house. However if you have plans already drawn we can work with these plans also if preferred.
