With the family requiring additional space, this tired family home in West Leederville was in desperate need of a major face lift. Being on a small block it was going to be a challenge to fit all the family’s requirements on one level, so building a second storey was the only option.
A double carport was built onto the front of the home and the second storey was added, creating a funky new look. Located within the second storey addition is a living room, master bedroom suite with modern ensuite plus separate powder room, creating the perfect adult retreat. The added attraction of a balcony makes the space feel even more comfortable.
The original red brick was replaced with a cream render and existing downstairs bathroom was remodelled, whilst the kitchen renovated. The family area was also remodelled and a new meals area created to complete the make over. This West Leederville home has now been dramatically transformed from a 3 bedroom 1 bathroom home new and revived 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home with a range of entertaining zones.
The original kitchen has undergone a dramatic makeover. With stunning black marble bench tops, a combination of light and dark grey cupboards and drawers, frosted glass splash backs it has been modernised and transformed into not only a workable space but also a modern reflection of the owner’s style.
The remodelled downstairs bathroom features neutral colours and the original single basin has been replaced by twin basins. The redesign of the bathroom also included a new square bath, WC and large shower, complete with glass shower screen. The end result has effectively opened the room up adding much needed space and functionality.
The second storey addition has created a wealth of space. Travel up the striking wooden stairs and enter the parent’s retreat which has been well appointed with a couch, cabinetry and TV. The powder room is well positioned to the right opposite the entry into the new large master bedroom.
The master bedroom is beautifully proportioned. Complete with WIR and ensuite, this master bedroom has a balcony where the owners enjoy sitting out on reading a book or an early morning coffee. With the same neutral colour palate as to the rest of the home the ensuite features a large mirror sitting over the fitted ‘his’ and ‘her’ basins and a large shower to the rear.
