This typical project home which was mass produced in the late 80’s, has been transformed into a modern masterpiece.
This single storey double brick home in Joondalup wasn’t overally old, however the owners decided extra space was a necessity, creating a great opportunity to modernise their home at the same time.
The downstairs lounge room was remodeled to include a living area and new stair case leading to the upstairs retreat. The second story addition includes the master bedroom, WIR, ensuite, study and theatre room. The result is a haven and get-away for the owners within their own home.
The original downstairs lounge room has been converted into a living room. The reconfiguration has allowed space for the stairwell which leads to the new second storey addition.
With a dedicated furniture recess the perfect place for a plasma panel, the upstairs theatre is great space to kick back and watch the latest releases or an old family favourite. Intelligent use of feature windows further contributes to the room’s sense of space bringing light and depth to the room.
The change in the front elevation is miraculous. Barely recognisable from the original home, it showcases earthy toned render and an impressive second storey. The use of charcoal Colorbond roof, pitched gables, finials and feature weatherboard cladding has resulted in the house transforming into a show home that anyone would be proud to own.
The front garden has not been forgotten having received a landscape makeover. A stone clad planter adjacent to the steps leading to the front entry creates a stunning entry statement. The use of feature planting, low rendered boundary front walls to form garden beds and the inclusions of piers, with the view of creating a future front courtyard, has resulted in flawless finish to the elevation.
The upstairs master bedroom is truly unique. Upon entry through the double French doors it is apparent that this suite has been designed as an opulent retreat with spatial proportions and elegant fittings. The room has followed the contours of the exterior providing novel areas for the client’s furniture. The major window has been recessed centrally within the room adding a picturesque element as well as light to the space.
The resort feeling of the home is continued through to the ensuite. Central to the room is the sumptuous oversized bath; the perfect place to unwind after a hard day. Twin recessed basins, generous cupboard space, dual mirrors, floor to ceiling tiling, spacious shower and separate WC make this the perfect place to relax and feel pampered.
