Alcock picks up wall cladding system contract

The West Australian, 1st May 2010

Dale Alcock Home Improvement has gained an exclusive 12-month contract to use the exterior building wall product MasterWall in its renovations and additions around WA.

General manager Seb Mariata said that MasterWall was ideal for use in timber-framed renovations, especially on second storeys, where it was used in place of traditional blue board.

It offered a range of benefits over the traditional product including more effective insulation, with an R-value of three, fire-retardant properties and greater design flexibility, Mr Mairata said.

“Windows can be highlighted with a reveal rather than be flush with the wall, giving the home architectural styling and the ability to follow the style of the original home,” he said. “this is important in character-style homes, which incorporate very specific window styling.”

MasterWall is also lightweight yet strong, making it resistant to cracking and minimising maintenance. Rockcote Triple R render, which is used over the top of the MasterWall surface, is also crack-resistant and durable. It has no volatile organic compounds, making it an environmentally friendly option.

Mr Mairata said although the MasterWall product was new to WA, it was well-known on the east coats and had been used in New Zealand for more than 20 years.

It is one of only three foam cladding systems to have obtained independent CSIRO approval as an alternative wall cladding system.

“The use of the product will result in higher insulation values, allowing our designers greater flexibility while still conforming to the ever-increasing need for energy-efficient homes,” he said.
