Community

The Alcock Brown-Neaves Group (ABN Group) recently donated over $695,000 to the wider Australian community following a summer of devastating natural disasters in late 2010 and early 2011.

To help support victims of both the Queensland floods and Cyclone Yasi, $500,000 was donated to the Salvation Army Queensland disaster relief fund.

Victims of the Victoria Floods also were supported with the ABN Group donating $1,000 from every home sold in Victoria during January and February 2011, totalling $95,000 which was donated to the Victorian Red Cross Flood Appeal.

Following the news that 68 homes were destroyed in the fires in the Perth Hills, the ABN Group donated $1,000 from every home and renovation sold in Western Australia during January and February, raising a further $100,000 which was donated to the Lord Mayors Distress Relief Fund.

For every home sold in Western Australia and Victoria during February 2009, the ABN Group donated $1,000 to the Red Cross Victorian Bushfire appeal. This equated to $345,000. Adding to the new home sales, 1,200 ABN staff and families also generously donated their own money and raised a remarkable total of over $90,000. In total, the ABN Group pledged over $435,000 to help rebuild the lives of the victims of Victoria’s tragic bushfires.

Dale Alcock is passionate about community issues and charity work, contributing more than $5 million in the past decade to projects such as the WA Drug Treatment Program, the Fremantle Medical Research Foundation, The Salvation Army, Appealathon and to junior football.

Recent projects also include the construction of the St John of God Cancer Centre at Subiaco, a ventilator for premature babies at King Edward Memorial Hospital, assistance to WA Doctors in providing medial care in Africa and support of the Smith Family Charity helping underprivileged children with the school to work transition.

Caring as a pastime.

Passionate people can’t help but see opportunities to do some good. The self-styled ‘Shine Committee’ at Dale Alcock Central is a great example. The committee made up of Dale Alcock Homes and Dale Alcock Home Improvement members, organise staff to make a difference. They develop ideas to make the company more environmentally friendly; they arrange for collections for charity; they encourage volunteering within the community.

It’s clear to Dale Alcock that people who care about their work are likely to care about many other things as well.
